The short answer: the real profit on a Tiendanube sale is what's left after you subtract the product cost, Tiendanube's transaction fee, the payment fee, the cost of interest-free installments, the shipping you absorb, advertising and taxes. Tiendanube shows you revenue and, if you enter your costs, the product margin. Everything else you have to add up yourself.
Below you'll find every cost with its official September 2026 figure, an example based on a $100,000 sale, and ways to keep track without losing three hours a day.
What does Tiendanube show you, and what doesn't it?
Tiendanube's statistics tell you how much you sold, how many orders came in and what your average ticket is. If you enter the cost of each product, it also calculates the margin: sale price minus cost.
What it doesn't show you is how much the payment provider and installments charged you, how much you paid toward shipping, how much you spent on Meta or Google to get that sale, or what happens if you also sell on Mercado Libre. That's why the margin you see in the dashboard is almost always double or triple what you actually keep.
Which costs come out of every Tiendanube sale?
Here's the full list, with the figures Tiendanube and Mercado Pago publish for Argentina:
| Cost | How much (Argentina, September 2026) | Where you see it |
|---|---|---|
| Product cost | What you pay your supplier or what it costs you to make | You enter it in Tiendanube |
| Tiendanube transaction fee | 2% on Esencial, 1% on Impulso, 0.7% on Escala, if you collect with another payment provider. Free if you collect with Pago Nube | Your Tiendanube invoice |
| Pago Nube fee | From 2.99% + VAT on Esencial, 2.97% on Impulso, 2.85% on Escala | Your Pago Nube account |
| Mercado Pago fee (Checkout) | 6.29% for instant payout, 4.39% at 10 days, 3.39% at 18 days, 1.49% at 35 days. All + VAT | The breakdown of each payment in Mercado Pago |
| Interest-free installments (Mercado Pago) | 3 installments: 10.49%. 6 installments: 18.69%. 12 installments: 32.29%. + VAT, on top of the fee above | The breakdown of each payment in Mercado Pago |
| Shipping you absorb | What you pay the carrier or logistics provider minus what the customer pays | Your logistics provider |
| Advertising | What you spend on Meta, Google or TikTok to get the sales | Each ad platform |
| Discounts and coupons | What you give up on each promotion | Tiendanube |
| Taxes | Gross receipts tax (IIBB), tax withholdings and VAT depending on your province and tax category | Your accountant |
The Mercado Pago fees in the table apply to CABA and nine other provinces; in the rest they differ by a few tenths of a point (for example, 6.60% for instant payout in Buenos Aires and Córdoba). If you're on the monotributo (simplified tax regime), the VAT on fees is one more cost. If you're a VAT-registered taxpayer (responsable inscripto), you recover it as a tax credit. Example: how much do you keep from a $100,000 sale?
A store on the Esencial plan, collecting with Mercado Pago at 18 days and offering 3 interest-free installments. It's on the monotributo, so the VAT on fees is a cost. It advertises on Meta, and Ads Manager shows a ROAS of 4.
| Item | Paid in 3 installments | Paid in full |
|---|---|---|
| Sale | $100,000 | $100,000 |
| Product cost (35%) | −$35,000 | −$35,000 |
| Tiendanube transaction fee (2%) | −$2,000 | −$2,000 |
| Mercado Pago at 18 days (3.39% + VAT) | −$4,102 | −$4,102 |
| 3 interest-free installments (10.49% + VAT) | −$12,693 | — |
| Shipping you absorb | −$6,000 | −$6,000 |
| Advertising (ROAS 4 on Meta) | −$25,000 | −$25,000 |
| What you keep, before taxes | $15,205 (15%) | $27,898 (28%) |
Tiendanube shows this store a 65% margin: $100,000 in sales minus $35,000 in product. What it actually keeps is 15%. And the interest-free installments alone eat almost half the profit on that sale.
None of these costs is anyone's mistake. The problem is that each one lives in a different place, and nobody adds them up sale by sale.
How do I calculate my store's real profit step by step?
- Enter the cost of every product in Tiendanube. Without this number, no calculation is possible. If you sell packs or bundles, enter the cost of what actually goes in the box.
- Download the payment breakdown from your payment provider. That's where you'll find the fee and installment cost of each sale, which change depending on how each customer paid.
- Add your plan's transaction fee if you don't collect with Pago Nube.
- Subtract the shipping you absorb, especially if you offer free shipping above a certain amount.
- Subtract advertising for the same period, across every platform.
- Add up the discounts you gave through coupons and promotions.
- Set taxes aside with your accountant: gross receipts tax (IIBB) and withholdings depend on your province.
Doing it once in a spreadsheet is the best way to understand your business. Doing it every day is what doesn't scale.
Which apps calculate a Tiendanube store's real profit?
There are several in the Tiendanube app store. What changes between them is which costs they can see:
- Escalafy (we make it): connects Tiendanube, Shopify and Mercado Libre with Meta, Google and TikTok, and subtracts every cost in the table above order by order, including Mercado Pago fees and installments. Free up to 50 orders per month, from USD 19 after that.
- Ganancia Real: reads only Tiendanube data and shows you how much each sale leaves you. From USD 13 per month. Doesn't connect advertising or Mercado Libre.
- Nimbler: connects Tiendanube with Meta and Google Ads. Doesn't connect Mercado Libre.
If you sell only on Tiendanube and don't advertise, an app that reads your orders is enough. If you run ads on Meta or also sell on Mercado Libre, you need one that sees those costs, because that's where most of the gap is.
Frequently asked questions
Does Tiendanube calculate my store's profit?
It calculates each product's margin if you enter its cost: price minus cost. It doesn't subtract payment fees, installments, shipping, advertising or taxes, so it isn't your real profit.
How much does Tiendanube charge per sale?
If you collect with an external payment provider like Mercado Pago, 2% on the Esencial plan, 1% on Impulso and 0.7% on Escala. If you collect with Pago Nube, Tiendanube charges no transaction fee, but Pago Nube charges its own fee starting at 2.99% + VAT. The details are in what Tiendanube really charges you.
Is Pago Nube or Mercado Pago better?
On the Esencial plan, collecting with Mercado Pago adds Tiendanube's 2% on top of the Mercado Pago fee. With Pago Nube that 2% disappears, but you pay Pago Nube's fee. Compare both using the payout period you actually use and the cost of the installments you offer.
How much does it cost to offer interest-free installments?
With Mercado Pago, 10.49% for 3 installments, 18.69% for 6 and 32.29% for 12, plus VAT, on top of the payment fee. We explain it in the hidden cost of interest-free installments.
