For your profit to be real, every business cost needs to be in there, not just the costs of each sale. You add these in the Additional Costs section.
Fixed costs
These are recurring costs that don't depend on sales (an employee, rent, a tool). You can create categories and choose the currency, the frequency (daily, weekly, monthly, yearly) and the start and end dates.
You can record different rates for the same cost over different periods within the same item; you don't need to create a new one for each change. For example, if you pay an employee $1M per month and next month they earn $200k more, you add another rate with the corresponding date in the same item.
What else is worth adding here
- Software and tools outside the store: everything you pay for separately (a CRM, an email app, a designer) goes in as an additional cost so it hits your profit.
- Meta spend from before you connected: if you want to account for ad spend from before you connected the account, add it as an additional fixed cost with the corresponding dates.
Variable costs
These are costs that vary with a metric. For example, if you include a $500 gift in every order, you create a variable cost of $500 per shipped order and Escalafy adds it up automatically based on the number of orders.
Additional ad spend
Use it to add ad spend that isn't tracked inside Escalafy (an influencer campaign or something outside the integrations). It's added to both the Ad Spend metric and your costs, so it recalculates your ROAS and your CPA.
