Mercado Libre taxes: SIRTAC, SIRCUPA and end-of-month perceptions

What we pull automatically from Mercado Libre, what we don't, and how to account for the tax perceptions its API doesn't share with us.

From Mercado Libre we automatically pull revenue, shipping costs and rebates, payment fees and installment fees.

What we do NOT pull automatically

  • Order taxes. They're an estimated withholding that Mercado Libre doesn't expose through its API.
  • End-of-month perceptions (percepciones). It doesn't share these with us either.

SIRTAC and SIRCUPA

They're not part of the fee. Those withholdings are accounted for within the Mercado Libre tax percentage, along with VAT and gross receipts tax (Ingresos Brutos).

To get the percentage, preview last month and calculate the withholding over total revenue: it usually comes out between 3% and 5%.

How to account for perceptions

  1. Set the tax percentage in Fees → Mercado Libre taxes, covering VAT and gross receipts tax.
  2. For perceptions, create a fixed cost for the past month with the real amount.
  3. If you want to see it deducted in real time in the meantime, add a variable cost with your estimate and correct it when the real perception comes in.
