Escalafy doesn't pull taxes automatically: you enter the percentage yourself, because it varies from store to store. This is the method we recommend to get it right.
If you're a Responsable Inscripto (VAT-registered)
Take what you paid in VAT + gross receipts tax (Ingresos Brutos) for your latest billing period and divide it by your total revenue for that same period. It usually comes out between 10% and 15%.
Also, enter your product costs including VAT.
If you're on monotributo (simplified regime)
Same procedure, but counting only gross receipts tax, without VAT. It usually comes out between 3% and 5%.
Where to see exactly what was withheld from you
In Mercado Pago:
- In the left sidebar, go to Facturación (Billing).
- Inside Facturación, on the right, go to Impuestos (Taxes; it may also appear as Percepciones or Retenciones).
- By default it shows the last 6 months: change the filter to last month, one that's already closed.
- There you'll see what was withheld for gross receipts tax (Ingresos Brutos) and SIRTAC.
- Divide that total by that month's revenue.
Where to enter it
In Fees → Store taxes (or Mercado Libre taxes, depending on the platform). Check that the dropdown shows the right platform: sometimes it shows Mercado Libre when you're looking for the store one.
Practical tips: you can average 2 or 3 months, because the percentage is usually very consistent. If you don't know it yet, enter 5% as a pessimistic estimate and correct it later. And if you prefer, leave it at 0 to finish setup and adjust it later on.
It's applied order by order
The percentage is deducted on every order, not once a month. Since it's an average, a single order may come out slightly above or below depending on the province, but over a full period the result is very accurate.
