Shipping is one of the costs that distorts your real margin the most if you don't set it up correctly. In Escalafy you have two ways to handle it.
The two options
- Shipping cost from the order (automatic): Escalafy takes the cost directly from the details of each order. If your logistics are integrated with Shopify or Tiendanube, this is the right option.
- Custom shipping costs: if you use Flex shipping, your own courier, or the store's cost doesn't reflect the real one, you can set a cost per province (or one general cost for the whole country).
Which one applies to me?
There's a quick way to find out: open a few recent orders and look at the shipping cost on each one.
- If you see a real shipping amount (for example $5,000, $2,000), your logistics are integrated with the store: use shipping cost from the order and don't enter anything.
- If the cost shows as zero on every order, that option won't work for you. You use private logistics that the store doesn't report, so you need to set custom costs.
Custom shipping by platform
Tiendanube: if the shipping cost appears on the order, we pick it up automatically. If you use private logistics, set up the custom shipping option.
Shopify: if you have a custom shipping method, set it up using an average between the custom shipping cost and the store's shipping cost.
I offer free shipping. Is it still deducted?
It depends on how it shows up on the order. If the shipping amount is itemized but struck through (for example "$5,000" struck through and "$0"), Escalafy sees it and counts it as a cost. If it shows as zero with no itemized amount, nothing is deducted.
If you offer free shipping but absorb the cost, make sure the amount is itemized on the order so Escalafy can calculate it correctly.
Mercado Libre shipments
They're 100% automatic: shipping costs, Flex rebates and partial rebates. The important exception: if you use Flex shipping, you must set custom shipping costs by province, because Mercado Libre doesn't give us the cost of those shipments. This applies even if you chose "shipping cost from the order" for your store: they are independent settings.
I set up shipping costs and reprocessed, but orders still show no cost
There are two common causes:
- Shopify Headless or Lovable: orders from these platforms can arrive without the shipping data needed, so Escalafy can't calculate or assign the shipping cost.
- Digital products: products set up as digital have no shipping attached. Check that they're marked as physical in your store.
If neither cause applies, message us on WhatsApp with the details of one order so we can look into it.
